Hi, I'm ardett! I'm currently obsessed with the dsmp and its lore, and I'm also a long time zine contributor and mod. You might know me from my fanfiction on Ao3 or around the zine scene!

I've contributed to over 10 zines, including the upcoming XDivination: a DSMP Tarot zine, and moderated 11 with my role in 9 of them already completed.

I'm so excited to help create this colorful zine!

Dirade - general, beta, moral support

Hello! I'm Dirade or Dira! I I'm a long time fanfiction writer on Ao3 and I've beta'd 50+ works by various authors across a variety of fandoms. I got my start in the oc rp community and since then I've been writing for almost a decade, more recently focusing on themes of consent and mental health. I'm something of an angst connoisseur and have a recent soft spot for the feral boys, miscommunication, and agere works.

I'm a senior year visual media production student with a focus in game design and minors in philosophy and writing. My dms are always open, but with schoolwork it may take me a few hours to get back to you. I'm so excited to be part of this project and create something wonderful with you guys!

More definite information will be solidified after our interest check results but at the moment, we hope to create a physical for-charity zine with the following specs.

Our profits will first go towards covering full bundles for our contributors, with any remaining funds being donated to charity.

Contributor Info

We plan for this zine to be comprised of 10 color sections. More info on that in the Color Catalog section! We expect the contributor distribution on these sections to differ slightly but there are a couple key points we'd like to meet.

We'd like one writer per color. Each writer will be paired with an artist. The number of writer specifically that we accept might vary depending on if mods are interested in contributing.

Collaborating artists will be responsible for creating 1 regular page piece based off the writer's work, as well as 1-3 spot illustrations.

All other artists will simply be creating their own page or spread art as normal.

FAQ

What is a zine?
A zine is a collection of artistic works all centered around a theme. This zine is specifically a fanzine, which means it is made by fans and for fans who all follow the theme of the zine.

What is the theme of this zine?
The theme of this zine is the emotional and visual connotations of color! For more info on this, please check out our color catalog page!

Will the zine be physical or digital?
We're hoping for physical but this is pending the results of our interest check!

Will this zine be based off Dream SMP lore or the creators?
This zine is focused on the characters in the Dream SMP, not the creators themselves. While this zine is inspired by lore, all works don't need to follow canon strictly. For example, contributors may create a piece where Karl and DreamXD meet but works should not include Karl and Dream as IRL streamers.

Will ships be allowed in this zine?
Yes, though certain color sections will be platonic exclusive sections (such as the pink section). We also ask that all our contributors' work followed content creators' boundaries.

Will there be NSFW in this zine?
No, we'll be keeping the zine strictly SFW. However, we expect the overall zine rating to be 13+, as it will reflect the mature content themes found in Dream SMP lore.

How old do I have to be to participate?
All contributors must be at least 13 in compliance with Discord’s TOS, as the zine will be primarily hosted on a Discord server. All mods should be 18+.

How many contributors will you be accepting?
These numbers may vary (particularly depending on mods' interest in contributing) but at the moment, we're planning to have 10 writers (one for each color section), 30 artists, and 5 merch artists, so approximately 45 total.

Will contributors recieve compensation?
There will not be any monetary compensation but all contributors are guaranteed a free digital copy of the PDF and any digital merch created. From there, profits will go towards funding contributor zines, then shipping, then full bundles with stretch goals. The zine and merch will be available to contributors at production cost if profits are unable to cover these costs. Any funds leftover after meeting these goals will be donated to charity.

What charity will you be donating to?
We are currently undecided and will be asking about this on our interest check!

Will moderators be allowed to contribute?
Yes!

Mod Apps

• Mod Apps Form

All mods must be at least 18 at the time of application! We're on the lookout for an experienced:

Finance/Shipping Mod ( 2 Mods)
Notes: We realize that finance, production, and shipping are all slightly different roles and that some mods may prefer one over the other. When applying, we asking for preferences on those duties and will be choosing 2 mods accordingly. We're aiming for a mod mainly focused on finance and production, and one mainly focused on shipping, though we're open to the possibility of one mod fulfilling this entire role.
Expectations:
find the appropriate vendors for all merchandise items (zines, stickers, pins, etc.)work closely with vendors to ensure the items are being produced to our standardskeep track of the finances for this project as we begin to make salesset up a PayPal to keep the zine finances secure, and other such dutiesin charge of packaging all orders, double-checking all orders have the correct bundles/items, and delivering all packages to the postal service to be mailedproviding tracking information to buyers and contributors if at all possiblecommunicate often and effectively with the other finance/shipping mod as well as the rest of the mod teamfor this position, previous experience as a zine finance/shipping mod is required
Graphics/Illustrator Mod (1 Mod)
Notes: We have a lot of assets and templates pre-created for the social media graphics and will be sharing these with you! We're looking for mod capable of adding illustrative elements to our graphics, such as fanart of characters, to make our graphics more specific to the Dream SMP.
Expectations:
Work with the mod team to develop the existing branding of the zinecreate custom graphics/illustrations to promote the zine in various sizes for the social media platformbe available for the entire duration of the project as graphics will be needed regularlywork closely with the Social Media Mod to plan what graphics should be created and when

All Contributor Applicants

How old do I have to be to participate?
All contributors must be at least 13 in compliance with Discord’s TOS, as the zine will be primarily hosted on a Discord server. All mods should be 18+.

What will be the main communication method?
Almost all zine communication will happen through Discord, so it is essential that all applicants have a Discord prior to applying or are willing to make one if accepted.

Can I apply to multiple positions?
Yes! However, it's likely you will only be accepted for one position.

How do I ensure all my portfolio pieces are visible?
Please be sure that all links are viewable to everyone! This is especially important on Google Drive where you must select viewing preferences. To double check links work, try opening them in an incognito tab!

Can my samples or portfolio include NSFW work?
You may submit NSFW work as one of your samples as all mods reviewing apps will be over 18. However, if the link does not already include warnings (such as a tagged Ao3 work), please include a content warning as well as the ship when submitting the link so mods can choose to abstain from review based on their personal comfort level. (Voting will be averaged so this will not affect your score.) Keep in mind that this zine is SFW so submitting an NSFW-focused work may not best reflect your fit for the zine if you have other pieces to submit. We ask that any NSFW samples submitted be within content creators' boundaries.

How will applications be judged?
The mod team will be using a voting system while looking through apps based off skill, consistency, and general fit for the zine.

Will you be sending rejection emails as well as acceptance?
Yes! We will be sending out acceptance, rejection, and pinch hitter emails all at once. Please refer to our schedule page for exact dates! Any delays will be posted on the socials.

Writers

Contributor Expectations
create 1 piece centered around your assigned color (colors will be assigned during pitches)because we're already taking on 10 writers, one per color, we are unfortunately limiting each writer to 1 pieceideally, all writers will be assigned an artist collab partner during pitches who will illustrate 1 main piece and 1-3 spot illustrations based off the ficmaximum word count: 2000
App Guidelines
please submit 3 sample piecesat least one must feature the Dream SMP charactersall sample pieces must be 3k or lessexcerpts are allowed but at least one completed piece under the zine's max word count (2k) is preferred so we can see how you work with a smaller word counthowever for this zine in particular, we would rather see strong Dream SMP related excerpts than shorter fics from other fandoms, as characterization is important to us. A Dream SMP piece under 2k is, of course, the best of both worldsplease ensure all links are in working order and publicly available, particularly any Google Drive linksportfolio can be submitted in any manner (Google Drive folder, Ao3 account, etc.) and can/should include more than your 3 sample piecespieces will primarily be judged on grammar, flow, style, and characterization

our merch guidelines have more flexibility than our other roles because the merch artists won't be put as strictly into color categorieswe would highly prefer merch artists who can complete a couple merch designs so we can cover an many colors as possibleto give you a sense of what kind of merch we might have, we're considering: a 10 card print/postcard set with one card for each color, charms with one color per side, a rainbow-themed sticker sheet, and a possible ambitious stretch goal of a lenticular poster
